Sedimentary Yellow // A winter sandstone and limestone colour story

Impossible to explain the beauty of this place.

Especially as we were paddling around Portugal’s most famous sea caves on a clear warm winter's day by ourselves.

The palette of yellows in the compressed sandstone and limestone stacked vertically in the cliff walls perfectly offset by the burst of blue sky. The beauty is enough to distract you long enough to be only slightly fearful of the falling cliffs and rocks overhead.

Benagil, The Algarve, Portugal.
December 2023.

Vast vertical cliffs and watery totems line the secluded coastal beaches of The Algarve, accessible only at low-tide.

Those willing to scramble through, over and under rocky walls and caves are treated with a sunset glow of yellow sandstone layered with a mega-concentration of fossils.

Sedimentary Yellow is one of the Snocker.Shop colour stories, inspired by our love of the natural world.
