What is SNOCKER?
SNOCKER is home to our Furniture, Design, Art and Lifestyle brand. The physical building is a pre-1950’s snooker hall by the ocean here in Matosinhos, Portugal.
Founded by designer and artist team Karla and Leonhard Pfeifer.
Originally with signage in the top windows that said ‘Snocker’, ‘Bilhar’, ‘Club’, ‘Pool’ we thought the word Snocker was a Portuguese word for Snooker. Turns out this was just a typographical mistake, serendipitous and we loved it.
SNOCKER, a space where we can make mistakes, learn about new ideas, refine our design skills on a larger scale. A space for us, to expand our design practice and to really explore our process, experiment with materials and get messy. A space to launch our new pieces of small Batch production furniture, design and art pieces.
We are slowly and lovingly renovating this building. Our online shop is now open with our first batch collection of blackened occasional tables.

With beautiful textures that enhance the natural timber combined with deep, rich dark tones these small batch tables are produced in raw unfinished Pine in Europe.
Shipped to us in Portugal each piece of furniture is then finished by fire and flames by us! Small batch production furniture created by our tiny team of 2 award winning designers.
Our Philosophy
Made with integrity
Why go to all this trouble? Because hand-crafted is better than mass-produced. Because design and skill adds value, and value leads to care and respect. If you respect what you buy you will look after it and that is good for humanity and good for our environment.
Custom batch production
Each part of our Lifestyle collection is produced in Europe from FSC solid European Pine and shipped to us in small batches. We then unpack each piece, hand customise it and repack it with its own badge of authenticity and a little surprise for you.
Cradle to cradle design ambitions
Each piece has its own badge, is branded or stamped with our identification. The recycled plastics used in our table tops are easily identifiable so they can be returned to us for recycling at their end of life. All the materials we use are compost-able or re-usable. We don’t claim to be perfect, but we have ambitions to get there.
Individually hand finished
We have small collections of wooden table tops that are hand seared with blowtorches, small concrete tables hand cast here at SNOCKER.SHOP and reclaimed marine plastic pieces that have been collected from our beaches, washed, shredded and then re-purposed. Phew. But it doesn’t stop there. We drill holes, slice leather, create fringing and gold-leaf by hand.
Our Story
Designers usually start their design journey full of enthusiasm and excitement. That’s how we started as young people and we had some good times. With age comes wisdom and with that wisdom comes clarity.
Gone are the days of wanting what everyone else has. Gone are the days of keeping up with the Jones (sorry, the Kardashians). What we crave now is quite simply ‘TIME’. Time to slow down, time to do nothing, time to enjoy family, time to enjoy being in nature.
SNOCKER is not a place where you buy something because of how it looks. It is the place to come to change the way you live. Create your home with simple pieces that give you space to Live your life.
Our vision was to live by the ocean and have time to enjoy the process of designing and making. How about you?
